Bears DE Adams had alcohol, marijuana in his system at time of death

The sad circumstances of Gaines Adams’ sudden death have been released, and there are more disturbing trends around it. A toxicology report shows that the defensive end had marijuana and alcohol in his system when he died. But Greenwood County Coroner Jim Coursey says nothing found in the report contributed to Adams’ death. The report showed Adams had a blood-alcohol level [read more...]

From Chicago, to New Orleans, to the Super Bowl

Gab reader Michael Masson sent in this interesting piece leading up to Super Sunday: Saturday. I pack my #57 Rickey Jackson jersey with pride and care, and walk to my car on a cold Chicago morning. When I pull up to my brother’s house a few blocks away, we exchange cautiously optimistic looks. We’ve been in this position before. We all have, [read more...]

Turnovers Hurt Ravens, Colts Advance To AFC Championship Game 20-3

For those of you who watched the Arizona-New Orleans game earlier today, then you probably learned by watching that crime-in-progress that getting two weeks of rest does your team a world of good. The question, despite that piece of truth, that was needed to be asked when the Baltimore Ravens came to Lucas Oil Stadium Saturday to take on the [read more...]

Time for the Patriots to Reverse the Curse

Why do they hate us? The Football Gods (TFGs), I mean. They seem to have a malign and perverse interest in knees and in yesterday’s TexMess smote yet another brilliant player with their evil touch. Oh, Wes, say it ain’t so! Last week I mentioned significant injury as worst-case scenario, and that nearly happened. Welker, considered by many [read more...]

The Gridiron Gab’s Second 2010 NFL Mock Draft

I have long said that I wouldn’t move the Vikings out of the 32 spot in my mock until I had a reason to believe they would be drafting anywhere else.  I almost put them down at the 30 spot. I elected to keep the faith, however.  Here is my latest mock: Rams – Jimmy Clausen, QB, Notre Dame:  The Rams get [read more...]

Chargers Play the Grinch in Dominating Titans 42-17 in Tennessee

The San Diego Chargers made sure to spend Christmas Day night in style, making sure that any shot that the Tennessee Titans had at the playoffs were thrown right out the window. They did it as Philip Rivers remained perfect in the month of December as a starting QB, as the Chargers pounded Tennessee 42-17. The win for San Diego [read more...]

Big Games By Schaub, Johnson Nearly Wasted; Texans Edge Rams 16-13

A weird thing happened at Edward Jones Dome Sunday when the St. Louis Rams hosted the Houston Texans. First the expected – the Texans outgained the Rams 419-237, had more first downs (22-15) and a minute and twenty seconds more of ball possession time. One would think “easy victory”, right? Not so fast. The Texans did march down the field [read more...]

Peterson Scores Twice, Vikings Clinch Playoff Berth In 30-10 Thrashing Of Bengals

One thing can be said about the Minnesota Vikings that could not be said in the past: they have been consistent this season. Consistently good quarterbacking by Brett Favre (save for the past couple weeks) and their rushing game. It would be unimaginable how mediocre they would be without Adrian Peterson (with apologies to Chester Taylor). During the Vikings game [read more...]
