49ers trade QB Shaun Hill to Detroit for a 7th round pick

The Lions have themselves a new QB, as it appears the team will likely sever ties with Daunte Culpepper, as they have traded with the San Francisco 49ers for Shaun Hill: The Detroit Lions have a new backup quarterback, acquiring Shaun Hill in a trade with the San Francisco 49ers. Matt Barros of the Sacramento Bee [read more...]

Lions with interest in former Browns QB Derek Anderson?

MLive.com reports that the Lions are not pursuing Lito Sheppard.  I’m not sure if he was a fallback plan in case the Houston trade didn’t pan out or if the report of the Lions interest was erroneous. In other news, the Browns have decided to release Derek Anderson, as expected, rather than pay his roster bonus that is due in a few days.  [read more...]

Brad Childress said all the things regarding the Favre situation that Favre wished Mike McCarthy and Ted Thompson had said after 2007. “I don’t have an expectation,” Childress said in regards to Favre’s retirement status. “I know he had a great experience here. Turnovers Help 49ers Declaw Lions 20-6

The San Francisco 49ers, during their game against the visiting Detroit Lions, began rather slowly – perhaps a result of the hangover from last week when they were eliminated from playoff contention. Benson Impresses, Bengals Muzzle Lions 23-13

The Cincinnati Bengals were happier than a pig in slop knowing that running back Cedric Benson would start for them during Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions at Paul Brown Stadium.
