Seeking Silver Linings.

Already the NY Post is on Nick Johnson for being hurt already. Johnson inexplicably wore spikes instead of sneakers on the astroturf-like mat used for batting practice yesterday. A spike caught in the carpet and he tweaked his back, causing him to be scratched from yesterday’s game vs. the Phils. As an extra precaution, he is held out of today’s game [read more...]

A-Rod can’t keep away from the old bitches

According to OK! Magazine Alex Rodriguez and Cameron Diaz were spotted kissing or canoodling or whateverthefuck. Some guys walk into a party and look for the hottest girl to hook up with, but A-Rod's dick is different. It follows fame like a fucking GPS. Look, aside from Manny Ramirez, Alex Rodriguez is the best right-handed hitter that we have seen, [read more...]

New statistics for the new decade

Hitman23 is the newest of our contributors here at TFB. When he isn't pleasuring himself to pictures of Don Mattingly's moustache, you can most likely find him with his nose buried in a Bill James book. Enjoy.I am a Sabermetrician. I once wasn’t, but I’ve seen the light and realized that everyone else is just stupid. You know how some [read more...]

Rivera-Jeter: Which Yankee is “Sportsman of the Year”?

It’s a split decision among future Yankee hall-of-famers. Sports illustrated has selected their 2009 “Sportsman of the Year” and it is Derek Jeter. The Sporting News has selected its 2009 “Pro Athlete of the Year” and it’s Mariano Rivera.  The Sports Illustrated honor is generally considered more prestigious, and amazingly, a Yankee has never received the honor since Sports Illustrated’s inception in 1954. Not Mickey Mantle in ‘56 after [read more...]

2009 Positional Review, Pt. 1: Infield/Catcher

This past season was a return to glory, as the Bronx Bombers reclaimed their rightful place atop the baseball universe. But there's no time to waste, as the hot stove season is upon us once again. I will be reviewing the roster, position by position, over the next few days leading up to the Winter Meetings. Feel free [read more...]

New York Yankees: The New Red Sox

Being a Red Sox fan, I know that making comparisons between the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox is blasphemy at its finest. Yankee fans want nothing to do with Red Sox comparisons and vice versa. It’s like comparing an elegant, captivating, and downright gorgeous woman (Red Sox) to her ugly, monotonous, and downright rod-shrinking sister (Yankees). It’s like [read more...]

Game 6. Yankees try once again…this time in front of the home crowd

YANKEES Derek Jeter SS Johnny Damon LF Mark Teixeira 1B Alex Rodriguez 3B Hideki Matsui DH Jorge Posada C Robinson Cano 2B Nick Swisher RF Brett Gardner CF Pitching: LHP Andy Pettitte (3-0, 3.24 ERA in postseason) What a difference the DH makes, huh? Swisher stays in RF. Time to reward Girardi’s faith in him, right Swish? Not to mention Cano. It’d be nice if the bottom of the lineup (and Teixeira) [read more...]

Game 5. Yanks look to close it out.

YANKEES Derek Jeter SS Johnny Damon LF Mark Teixeira 1B Alex Rodriguez 3B Nick Swisher RF Robinson Cano 2B Brett Gardner CF Jose Molina C A.J. Burnett P Pitching: RHP A.J. Burnett (1-0, 3.55 ERA in postseason) You will notice BG in CF tonight. Wouldn’t it be something if, say, he and Molina combine for four or five hits in a Yankees win tonight? Melky is done for the year (1, 2 or [read more...]

Game 3. Yanks 8, Phils 5. 3 Hrs, and Andy not only pitches Yanks to win, he contributes a huge hit.
