When will NBA Players understand the meaning of shutting up?

Mike Bibby of the Atlanta Hawks is the latest NBA player to open up his fat trap in these playoffs. We’ve already been mildly entertained the Washington Wizards talking and then subsequently being schooled by the Cleveland Cavaliers. Now we have another yapper to hear stories about on ESPN for the next several days.

Bibby had the gall to call Boston fair weather fans because he thinks these fans are only attending games because the team is good. I’d like to recommend Bibby look up the price of an NBA ticket these days and then multiply that by two, three, or four if they have others to bring along. You can’t blame a fan for not wanting to go to any sporting event if that team isn’t performing. I’m all in favor of supporting the team and being there when they’re down, but the reality of situation is going to sporting events is an expense that might not be worth it.

Oh, and Boston fans are fair weather?I mention Mike Bibby on the Atlanta Hawks for one reason. Atlanta fans are some of the worst in sports. Even when they’re winning games, Phillips Arena isn’t being filled. And Braves’ playoff games would sometimes be half empty because of how spoiled and used to division titles those fans were. I can promise you no matter how many championships the Red Sox win, you’ll have a hard time finding an empty seat at Fenway Park.

I’m not sure what Bibby was trying to accomplish, but it clearly worked so well that his team fell down 0-2 to the Boston Celtics. Not only that, but those comments have likely motivated Celtics’ fans to cheer louder and be even more obnoxious then usual. Boston fans are some of the most loyal I’ve ever seen. Yet, they can be even more obnoxious and annoying too.

Celtics fans shouldn’t fret though. Mike Bibby won’t be seeing much more of them anyway. Can you say sweep?
